So, I received some interesting links regarding my magic eight ball bulletin yesterday, and thought that I would share them with you.
My friend Chris in Huntsville, Alabama suggested that I use the following online version of the magic eight ball:
http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~ssanty/cgi-bin/eightball.cgi
... so I did.
Here are the results.
When asked the following questions:
1.) How will my turnout be at Hennessey's tonight?
THE ANSWER: No Way!
At this point, I decided that "Yes" and "No" questions are integral to a clear and worthwhile answer... so I rephrased the question:
2.) Will my turnout be good at Hennessey's tonight in Laguna Beach?
THE ANSWER: Ask Again!
Hmmm, the suspense is killing me... so I ask again...
3.) Will my turnout be good at Hennessey's tonight in Laguna Beach?
THE ANSWER: Yes!
GREAT SUCCESS! You heard it here first (especially all you superstitious ones); the turn out will be good tonight regardless of whether people are there or not. Personally, I still hold true to the good ol' fashioned idea that people generally show up when they want to see a good show:
Hennessey's
213 Ocean Ave.
Laguna Beach, CA 92651
Show starts at 8:00 PM with John and I. We play until midnight because we're serious like that.
All Ages until 10:00 PM
FREE SHOW (just make sure to support the venue by getting something to eat or drink... after all they are kind enough to let us put on the weekly show).
Until next time,
~ Mike

A shameful cover or a Plush Cafe wonder?
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, I have crossed the indelible boundary of musician, to magician.
Bare witness to a feat never before attempted by anyone I know. I have turned one of my favorite cover songs into a flyer!

TWO SHOWS THIS MONTH IN LOS ANGELES AT ROOM 5
Hey Kiddos,
It's been a little while, but I'm going to be playing in Los Angeles this next Monday at a great venue called Room 5. I've met some of the most amazing songwriters at this venue and have shared the stage there in the past with such acts as Jay Nash, Ernie Halter, Chris Pierce, Joey Ryan, Gabriel Mann, Chris Seefried, and so forth, in a format called Songwriter In the Round. It's a great experience that I would love for you to be a part of. We share stories and play on each other's respective tunes when encouraged by the songwriter performing. It's like camp, except there's no camping involved.
In fact, for those of you who have never heard of these people, I encourage you to check out their respective myspace pages:
www. myspace. com/jaynash
www. myspace. com/erniehalter
www. myspace. com/chrispierce
www. myspace. com/joeyryan
www. myspace. com/gabrielmann
www. myspace. com/chrisseefried
They are all people that I respect a great deal.
But I digress...
I'm not sure exactly who the line up will be this next Monday, but I'm definitely looking forward to who I meet from past experience.
Here are the details:
MONDAY JULY 7th at 8:00 PM (AS A SIDE NOTE - I'll be playing July 21st as well)
Room 5
143 North La Brea
2nd Floor
Los Angeles CA 90036
323.938.2504
Unfortunately, this show will be 21 and up.
There is a $6.00 cover, but you can take comfort in knowing that it reaches the musician's pocket. Thank you for this... it normally makes a hefty difference between Top Ramon Noodles or Carne Asada from Henry's.
Shoot me a line. Let me know if you're interested in coming out!
See you soon,
~ Mike

NEW RESIDENCY EVERY TUESDAY NIGHT AT HENNESSEY'S in LAGUNA BEACH
[SPECIAL NOTE TO READER: John and I no longer play this particular weekly residency as of 2009... I decided to post this to keep the canon of my original blog on myspace]
Hey Everyone,
I've been getting asked a lot whether or not I've been planning on playing another residency at a new location over the past month or two, which invariably has led me to pursue an answer to this dilemma.
The answer came today from Hennessy's!
Starting in June, I am going to be performing at Hennessy's in Laguna Beach located at 213 Ocean Ave (2nd Floor). The kicker to this is that I won't be alone either.
My good friend and partner in crime John Parschauer will be joining me from now on at Hennessy's to play lead guitar. If you've never had the opportunity to hear John play... well, all I can say is that you need to. I've been doing my best to realize my songs in the format of a band effort, and lucky for me, John is the first step in the process, which will continue on with bass and drums in the coming weeks as well. John adds a flare that I wouldn't be able to accomplish on my own. We've been hard at work expanding on many of the songs that I've written as well as working on covers that everyone should find appealing.
To begin promoting this night, we will be playing additional shows on Sundays in June at Hennessy's as well in order to spread the word. Here is a lowdown of upcoming shows at our new home:
Tuesday May 20th - 8:00 PM
Sunday May 25th - 5:00 PM (Day show)
Tuesday June 3rd - 8:00 PM
Sunday June 8th - 8:00 PM
Tuesday June 17th - 8:00 PM
Sunday June 22nd - 8:00 PM
Tuesday June 24th - 8:00 PM
John and I are also very active in supporting the local music scene as much as possible so we are also planning on having opening acts during this Tuesday night residency, so, if you're a musician and you're interested in playing, please, by all means, contact me here at myspace or at mikevitalebooking@yahoo.com. We're offering a 30 to 45 minute set. This is a FREE show as well so look forward to no charge at the door!
Cheers to everyone who has supported our past residencies at Plush Cafe in Fullerton and Aurora in Newport Beach. My hope is that we can create an environment that rivals what we had developed at both of these locations in the past and that the future is wide open for constant improvement.
Now is the time for interested street team members to help spread the word. We realize that we are nothing without our fans and we plan on making every effort to reward word of mouth promotion for these nights and welcome any volunteers that would be interested in making this residency a great success! Talk to me. Shoot me a message with suggestions or any interest in being part of the street team. We want to hear from you!
Cheers to the future!

Good Night - Good Morning
So, as another year draws near to a close, I find myself in a particularly peculiar mood this evening… or should I say this morning? After all, it is 2:53 AM, and I'm several hours from the point in which I'm supposed to consider my consciousness a new day and should feel obligated to pursue my daily routines… mainly and most importantly, continuing my efforts to complete the booking for my West Coast College Tour in 2008 over a cup of steamy and highly caffeinated coffee, black, no sugar.
However, at the moment, I'm multitasking, doing my best to wrestle two cats (one kitten named Ella Fitzgerald and one semi-adult cat named Jameson) who conjointly feel the necessity to be loud and chase each other around a small studio apartment at an hour when most mammals (mainly humans) should normally feel compelled to sleep… however, in light of this, I did a wikipedia search on cats and found out much to my chagrin that they're nocturnal. Fiddlesticks.
But considering that I'm awake, how about we talk a little?
So, as I had mentioned earlier, I've been planning a rather broad tour through California, Oregon, and Washington in the month of February and early March 2008. I'm playing mostly colleges, but I'm also planning on playing a number of venues, resorts, churches, alleys, houses, brothels, bowling alleys, chucky cheese's… pretty much anywhere that I can. Mainly, I want you to be there along the ways. After all, it's not often that I have the opportunity to travel outside my California Bubble. I'm willing to play house shows, so, if you live in any of the before mentioned states, and would like to see me perform from the comfort of your own home, well, by all means contact me through myspace or email. My booking email is located on my myspace page.
In other news, I recently acquired a booking agent for future college and university shows AND I'm participating in a Radio Contest through the station KYSR Star 98.7.
The radio contest is called Rockstar 98.7 and the winner of this fabulous contest receives $25,000, a record deal, and west coast tour with an ATO recording artist. For those of you unfamiliar with ATO records, their current roster includes the likes of Radiohead and David Gray as well as a number of other talented acts. Now, I would prattle on about this contest more, but I actually wrote a separate blog about this earlier today. If you're interested in helping (which would be very kind of you) you can read that blog to get the details.
As for right now, the cats finally passed out and I can barely keep my eyes open. I was planning on watching House tonight on DVD, but that just wasn't in the cards. It's my latest addiction.
Good Night.
Good Morning.

I pity the foo'
So, I think I'm going to start wearing more gold chains (at the moment, I wear 0)... I really think gold necklaces with big gold pendants dangling off them that say things like "Princess of Power" are in order. I'm pretty sure this will get my ass kicked. You know, I also want to start wearing those "power" armbands, you know, the kind that you see 57-year-old males wearing out at the golf course.

They're supposed to channel energy because they're IONIZED.... yeah, I think I need seven of those on my left wrist... basically, expect me to look like Mr. T tonight at the show.
NOTE:
For those of you who do not know what Mr. T looks like

That certainly isn't him on the left BUT he DOES have the appropriate amount of gold chainage on in order to LOOK like Mr. T...
... and if you think any of this is silly

"I PITY THE FOO"
Keep'n' it real with the gold,
Mike

Ordering My New CD: IDIOSYNCRASIES
Hi Everyone,
As you all may know, Thursday June 14th 2007 was the official release of my brand new full length CD "Idiosyncrasies."

I am anxiously awaiting for it to be available for purchase on my myspace page, but this may take several weeks to put into motion considering that I am relying on a number of different companies to help me with this including Yahoo, iTunes, CD Baby, etc.
So, in the meanwhile, my CD can be purchased directly from me simply by sending me a myspace message requesting to buy one. I will run through the process with you once you do so.
Thank you so much for your support and I look forward to hearing from you all!
